The Pinal County Attorney's Office (PCAO) is now accepting registrations for the next Citizens Academy, scheduled for Saturday, June 22nd. Following a record turnout at the April event, the PCAO invites community members to gain a deeper understanding of the criminal justice system through this immersive program.

The PCAO Citizens Academy will run from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive view of the prosecutorial process, including how challenging charging decisions are made and the crucial role prosecutors play.

"This is an excellent opportunity for folks to come, see what we do as prosecutors and how we navigate difficult charging decisions," said County Attorney Kent Volkmer.

Academy Highlights:

  • Presentations: Attendees will hear detailed presentations from County Attorney Kent Volkmer and other PCAO prosecutors.
  • Case Reviews: Participants will have the chance to examine evidence and review several cases prosecuted by the PCAO.
  • Interactive Q&A: Engage in a question-and-answer session with prosecutors to gain insights into the criminal justice system.
  • Shooting Simulator: Experience a law enforcement shooting simulator to understand the types of encounters officers face.
  • Jail Tour: Take a guided tour of the county jail to see the facilities and learn about the incarceration process.

"We try to make this as in-depth an experience as possible to give those who attend an accurate reflection of how our office works and dispel any rumors about the criminal justice system," Volkmer added.

Event Details:

  • When: Saturday, June 22nd, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
